Goodness of Ayurveda to Fight Hair Fall

For any adult out there, hair loss can give sleepless nights. It's only natural that being blessed with rich, lustrous hair boosts instant confidence, adds grace to your overall appearance, and imparts a sense of personality to any man or women in tandem. On the flipside, recurring episodes of hair fall leads to distress and a sense of fear which mars your daily routine for no good. To make matters worse, we are constantly bogged down by our work having to meet deadlines, travel to and fro from home to office, survive the pollution and an unhealthy diet that does more damage than good. Overall, our hair goes through a lot, and as an aftermath, starts falling, making us look way older than our actual age with endless hair and scalp related issues. Having said that, Ayurveda is one of the ancient modes of treatments through which hair fall and hair loss can be treated effectively. Here's an insight into what good can Ayurveda do to your hair.

Identifying hair loss reasons

Ayurveda cites three primary reasons contributing to hair loss and scalp related issues. The very first being an imbalance within Vata dasha, which in turn is widely responsible for transportation and the overall movement of nutrients along the empty channels throughout the body. As such, any imbalance of Vata Dasha can obstruct blood flow and supply of nutrients across hair cell which in turn is responsible for several hair issues like dry scalp, split ends, hair breakage and loss.

Not many are aware of this, but healthy bones are an essential factor leading to healthy hair. This is solely because nails and hairs are nothing but by-products of any such transformation that happens from food and directly to one's bones. The third reason that seems to be a possible contributor to hair loss and hair related problems is old age. Ayurveda believes that the later phase of life happens to be governed by Vata dasha, which might be detrimental to your glorious tresses.

Apart from three potent reasons contributing to your loss, there are other such factors which include several life incidents like one suffering from chronic illness, weight loss, a stressful life, recurring issues like dandruff, lack of exercise, excess travelling, irregular and unhealthy diet like fried , packaged, sugary or canned foods that renders chemical reaction. All of these contribute to upset the entire digestion process, which in turn gives rise to toxins and proportionately increasing the Vata Dasha. Lastly, some of the frequent contributors from daily life include excess consumption of the following substances:
  • Cigarettes and alcohol
  • Vinegar
  • Carbonated drinks and pickles
  • Using hair products like shampoos and hair gels on a heavy note
  • Hot blowing hair regularly
  • Drinking less water
  • Using unclean water to wash hair

Adapting to change in food habits & lifestyle

It is to be remembered that healthy body originates from within. With balanced nutrition, assimilation, digestion, and elimination, a robust regime can be achieved, which in turn make way for healthy hair growth. Here are some changes that you can incorporate in your life for good:
  • Include green and leafy vegetables in your diet.
  • Embrace dairy products like cheese, milk, and yogurt.
  • Give food to your hair in the form of walnuts, almonds, and coconuts. You might as well grate them alongside and add to your veggies.
  • Take to flavor your food with adequate spices to fasten digestion and optimum absorption of nutrients.
  • Curry leaves, turmeric, black pepper, cilantro are also good additives for your diet and should be consumed from time to time to foster healthy hair growth.

Take control of stress

Stress is a painful asset that one simply can't do without in our daily routine. However, there are certain ways you can reduce your stress without having to try too hard. Here are a few pointers to get you started:
  • Minimize multi tasking. Take one task and finish it in time to move on to the next with ease.
  • If possible, resort to meditation. Even celebrities swear by it, and there's a lot of proof to show that meditation brings down stress levels to the bare minimum.
  • Take to exercising daily, even if it's a brisk walk in the morning or evening. You can further complement the goodness of exercise by practicing asanas or doing breathing exercises, which in turn ensure good blood circulation– another significant factor for healthy hair growth.
  • Invest in doing things that brings you happiness readily during leisure. It could be reading, writing, painting, and just about anything else.
  • Massage your hair with ayurvedic coconut hair oil or work up a mix of essential oil to heighten its impact. Follow the routine 2-3 times in a week for adequate moisturization and blood circulation in and around the scalp.
